Project Description

29 March 2007 holds a significant place in Her Majesty’s Theatre history as “Miss Saigon” held its Melbourne premier.

Adapting the themes and basic plot of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly (and transferring it the Vietnam War) Boublil and Schonberg’s musical was perhaps not the runaway hit that their first collaboration Les Miserables was, however still managed to pack an emotional punch that sees itself firmly embedded in the pantheon of modern musical theatre masterpieces.

Miss Saigon ran for 135 performances at HMT before the stellar cast (featuring Leo Tavarro Valdez as The Engineer, David Harris as Chris and Sophie Katinis as Ellen) left their mark in history on the Cast Wall.
