Public Transport

Metro trains
The nearest railway station is Parliament on the City Loop line. There are station exits on the corner of Lonsdale and Spring Streets and also on the corner of Bourke and Spring Streets. Walk one block down Lonsdale or Bourke Streets to get to HMT.

V/Line (regional) trains
Country trains arrive at Southern Cross Station. The quickest route to HMT from Southern Cross is to catch any tram heading east along Bourke St and alight at the stop between Russell and Exhibition Streets.

Trams
Trams run along Bourke Street. The route numbers are 86, 95 and 96. Trams also run along Collins Street, Flinders Street and Swanston Street.

Buses
Buses run along Exhibition Street. The route numbers are 250, 251, 253, 340 and 350.

Taxis

There are taxi ranks outside the Marriott Hotel on the corner of Exhibition and Lonsdale Streets and also outside Rydges Hotel on the corner of Exhibition and Little Bourke Streets. There are usually taxis at these ranks which can be hailed to save pre-ordering by phone.

Car Parks

We recommend parking at Parkade Secure Parking, 34-60 Little Collins Street. The carpark is located between Little Collins and Bourke Streets, and is only a block and a half from HMT. Secure Parking and HMT offer patrons discounted parking rates when seeing a show at the theatre.

Monday – Thursday evenings: $7.00 (enter after 4pm)
Friday and Weekends: $10.00
Wednesday matinees: $15.00
24 hour parking: $25.00

Simply park at the carpark and collect your parking pass as normal, and then collect a ‘follow-on’ ticket from the Box Office. Just insert the follow-on ticket after your original pass at the pay station to receive the discount. Visit the Parkade website for more information.
